Lithium-ion Batteries

Lithium-ion batteries are an easy to use, robust, rechargeable battery that serves as a a reliable power source for cordless power tools. Here at Cromwell we stock a wide selection of lithium-ion batteries from suppliers Bosch®, Milwaukee®, Makita®, DeWalt® and our exclusive brand Kobe®.

Why lithium-ion batteries?

Lithium-ion batteries are a compact, lightweight and easily portable solution to power handheld power tools. They are designed with secondary cell construction which allows them to be recharged and used repeatedly. They boast a high battery capacity that allows for longer run times , fast charging and have a low self-discharge rate. They are available in a range of voltages to suit your application. Lithium-ion batteries have a high energy density, are less sensitive to temperature and non-destructive to the environment.

Lithium-ion battery types

Voltage (V)  -   The voltage of the battery determines how much power it can provide to your power tool. Smaller tools require less power to work, whereas larger tools demand more voltage ranging from 18V to 40V.
Battery capacity  -   Amperage per hour (Ah) is the amount of charge it can output in one hour. For example under optimum conditions, a 5 amps battery continually in operation, for an hour can draw 5 amps .

FAQ

Are lithium-ion batteries and lithium batteries different?
Yes, ion type batteries (lithium-ion) are different to lithium batteries as they feature a secondary cell construction, which means that they can be recharged repeatedly. However lithium batteries only have primary cell construction, which means they are unable to be recharged and a single charge use battery.
