Indexable Thread Mills

3 Variations

Easier to thread difficult materials and possible to control gauge size of thread which can reduce number of tools used where thread pitches are the same. A full form thread may be produced virtually to the bottom of a blind hole and right or left hand threads may be produced. Carbide threading inserts can run faster than HSS taps to give better finishing tolerences and tool life. Thread milling bodies carry a variety of thread pitches and forms. Both for female and male, left or right hand combinations most having 2 edges for economy and to reduce inventory overall. Larger threads may be produced on lower power machines as thread milling requires less torque.
