Wipers

Wipers also known as paper rolls, are a versatile and essential product widely used for cleaning, hygiene and sanitation across multiple industries. Here at Cromwell we stock an extensive range of wipers from our trusted own brand Solent as well as leading, national brands such as WypAll®, Tork® and Northwood.

What are wipers?

Wipers are highly convenient cleaning materials designed to wipe and absorb various substances like solvents, oils and dirt. They are typically made from materials such as paper, fabric or nonwoven fibres and are used to clean surfaces in both industrial and household settings.

Why buy wipers?

Wipers are a highly versatile, integral tool used to maintain high safety, hygiene and aesthetic standards in the workplace. The sheets are ultra absorbent to quickly deal with any spillages or to hold in cleaning product for antibacterial wiping tasks. They are designed to swiftly and effectively clean surfaces and are a cost effective solution.

When are wipers used?

Similar in usage and design to household kitchen roll, wipers are invaluable for any janitorial, housekeeping or sanitary cleaning task. Wipers are extremely useful and can perform a huge range of jobs across a wide number of industries. You're unlikely to find a workplace without them. Whether you're wiping down surfaces, cleaning up spills, wiping oil or grease off your hands, disinfecting areas, or much, much more - the humble wiper roll is an imperative tool for any business.

Wipers types

• Centrefeed wiper rolls - As it sounds, centrefeed rolls are a roll of absorbent material designed to be fed through the centre of the roll itself. These are commonly used in the food industry such as in commercial kitchens, as well as schools, offices and bathrooms.

• Wiper cloths - Also known as cleaning cloths, are normally flat rectangular or square sheets that are designed for easy dispensing.

• Polishing cloths - Soft and flexible cloth designed to release polishing agents, leaving surfaces perfectly clean without any trace.

• Hygiene Rolls - Also known as couch covers are specifically designed for use as a protective layer on couches in the healthcare industry.

Considerations when choosing wipers

When buying wipers, there are a few key considerations to keep in mind to ensure you get the best products for your bathroom:

• Roll type - There are various types of wipers available that have different sheet and roll sizes that fit in different dispensers or are supplied as standalone boxes. Ensure the wipers are suitable for the type of dispenser you intend to use.

• Sheet Size - Consider the dimensions of the wiper sheet length and sheet width to ensure you have adequate coverage and comfort with each use.

• Quantity - When selecting wipers consider the roll length (meters) and total number of sheets to determine how long the roll lasts and calculate the cost-effectiveness.

• Ply - The ply of the paper roll references the number of layers it has, and therefore the overall thickness. We offer a range of differing plys that are suitable for anyone. High ply toilet rolls are usually softer and can absorb more liquid. This make high-ply paper rolls more efficient for dealing with spillage and cleaning. Low ply rolls are often cheaper and are better for wiping tasks such as giving your hands a quick clean.

• Pack size - Unsurprisingly, paper rolls are often bought in bulk to save on costs and packaging requirements. Cromwell stocks a wide range of varied pack sizes to suit all requirements.

• Certifications - Wiper papers carry certification to indicate environmentally responsible production and support sustainability efforts that include FSC, Eco Label and recycled.

• Food Contact - Ensure your selection is suitable to meet the hygiene and safety standards you intended use.
