What are lamination pouches?

Lamination pouches are protective coverings where documents are placed before the laminating process. Double sided lamination pouches ensure that a document is waterproof, tear-proof and stain-proof.

When are lamination pouches used?

Lamination pouches are used in offices and workshops to protect important documents, making them easy to display. Lamination pouches are often used for ID cards, business cards and posters. Lamination pouches are also ideal for use on safety signs, warning signs, checklists and other marketing pieces.

Considerations when choosing lamination pouches

• Document size - Make sure that the size of the pouches matches the size of the documents are intending to laminate.

• Thickness - Consider the thickness of lamination you need for your intended purposes. Portable documents would be better with thinner laminate, while stationary documents pinned on a wall for example would be ideal with thicker laminate pouches.

What are microns?
In the context of lamination pouches, microns measure the thickness of the pouch. The more microns, the thicker and less flexible the laminated document will be.

FAQs

Can any pouch work with any laminator?
Generally speaking, lamination pouches of the same size will work with an according laminator. However, we would recommend purchasing a laminator with pouches from the same brand, as they work better in conjunction.

Does my document have to be the same size as the pouch?
It's important to not try and laminate a document which is much smaller than the pouch it is in. The lamination will not work, and it could cause damage to the machine and the document(s).
